Taj Opens Fifth Resort in Bangalore, India

(BANGALORE, INDIA) -- Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces today announced the highly anticipated opening of its new premium city hotel in the information technology nerve centre of Bangalore.

The 199-room Vivanta by Taj - Whitefield is Taj's fifth hotel in Bangalore. The new property is slotted in the 'upper upscale' segment of India's leisure industry.

With a population of 5.3 million, Bangalore is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka and is India's third most populous city and fifth most populous urban area..

The hotel is located at the entry-point of the International Tech Park at Whitefield in East Bangalore.

Jamshed Daboo, Chief Operating Officer, Taj Premium Hotels, says Vivanta "addresses the needs of a sophisticated and cosmopolitan customer group, with 199 stylish guest rooms, eclectic entertainment and dining options and a spectrum of facilities offered specifically based on a deep study of the new generation traveler's lifestyle."

Adds Raymond N Bickson, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, The Indian Hotels Co. Ltd.:
