Actor Richard Gere and his wife, actress Carey Lowell, have had several homes in the Hamptons and elsewhere for years now, but they have just sold one of their Hampton homes for $5.9 million.

The traditional house of 5,500 square feet has seven bedrooms and seven and 1/2 bathrooms is called "Too Many Maples."  The property has a number of large maple trees.  It also has a heated pool, a guest house and an artist's studio.

Gere and Lowell also own another home close to the Hamptons in North Haven, N.Y. The couple purchased the Water Mill home in February, 2001 for $2.75 million.  After renovating it, they listed the home at $8.8 million and reduced that price to $7.2 million in June.

Gere is known for his starring roles in the films "Pretty Woman" and "Chicago." He appears this month in "Amelia," a biography of Amelia Earhart.  A helicopter traffic reporter for a local CBS news team in L.A. also has the name Amelia Earhart.

Linda Haugevik of Saunders Associates represented Gere and Lowell.  Susan Hovdesven of Prudential Douglas Elliman represented the buyers, Susan Boland and Kelly Granat.

Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall list home

Actress Jennifer Carpenter, who co-stars with her husband, Michael C. Hall in the Showtime film "Dexter," has listed her Hollywood Hills bachelorette pad for $695,000.

The bungalow, built in 1937, has two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The home has skylights, vaulted ceilings and decks off the dining room and master bedroom. There is a flat lawn and canyon views.

Carpenter, 29, played Dexter Morgan's sister, Debra, since 2006. The Emmy-nominated show is in its fourth season and centers on a forensics expert and serial killer played by Hall, 38. He was also one of the main characters in the weekly drama "Six Feet Under" 2001-2005."

In anticipation of Halloween, she starred in the horror films "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" (2005) and "Quarantine" (2008) and will appear with actor John Cusack in the thriller "The Factory" (2011).

Carpenter and Hall were married in December.

Golf Champ Fred Couples to Tee Off Elsewhere

Fred Couples has sold his house in Montecito.  The 15-time PGA Tour winner relocated to La Quinta, Calif.

The golf champ has sold his 11,000-square-foot house--a two-story Monterey Colonial-- situated on a 5-acre ocean-view site, for just under $10 million.

The home had been listed since last year at $12.5 million.

Couples, 50, purchased the home in 1999 for $4 million.

The ocean-view home is on five acres with an ocean view, a putting green, a tennis court, rose gardens and a pool.

Sharon R. Fisher and Vickie G. Craig of Village Properties, Montecito, shared the listing with Dan Encell of Prudential California Realty, Montecito. Colleen Beall, also of Village Properties, represented the buyer.

Cary Grant Formerly Owned

A 1929 Los Feliz home owned at one time by actor Cary Grant and at another time by Red Hot Hot-Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith, has come on the market at close to $3.5 million.

The Spanish Colonial Revival-style villa has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a media room in about 6,700 square feet.

It also has gardens, a pool, a one-bedroom guest apartment, stained glass and period tile.

Grant carried his bride, Virginia Cherrill, over the threshold of this house. She was his first wife. The property, behind walls, was most recently sold in 2006 for $3.2 million.

Former Record Executive and Wife List Estate

Richard Foos, the former head of Rhino Records, and his wife, Shari, have put their Brentwood estate on the market at $19.9 million.

The Fooses spent three years building the estate, designed by Thomas Callaway to look as if it was constructed in the '20s. The 10,000-square-foot house has seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. It sits on more than 34,000 square feet of park-like grounds with a pool and mountain views.

In the house, there are seven fireplaces, a meditation room, a music system and solar heating. Push-button walls retract on the loggia. The two-room guesthouse has a wrap-around porch, and the game room has a jukebox, pinball machines, multiple TV monitors and a soda fountain.

"Nothing is random" said Shari Foos about the materials and artisanship in the home.

Richard Foos started Rhino in 1973 as a record store. Time Warner purchased it in 1998. The couple is selling because their family grew up. "It's time for us to downsize," Shari Foos added.
